Gmail is an ad-supported email service developed by Google and
launched on April 1, 2004 - over thirteen years ago.
Gmail was created with the intention of providing users with an initial
storage capacity of one gigabyte per user, which made Gmail a challenger to the juggernauts AOL, Yahoo! Mail, and MSN Hotmail of the time. Gmail today offer users fifteen gigabytes for free and up to thirty terabytes for paid plans. As of July
2017 - Gmail has over 1.2 billion active users, owning twenty percent of the global email
client market, and its interface supports at least 72 languages from Arabic to
Zulu.
