IS 101 Introduction to Information Systems

Course Description: Concepts and applications of Information Systems. Introduction to hardware, software, data, and file concepts. Microcomputer applications software including word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet, and presentation software.

Instructor: Eric Chapin

Would I take this course again: I definitely would not take this course again.  I would only recommend to elderly people who didn’t grow up with a computer or never utilized a computer during their adult life for work or leisure. Most of the material cover is common sense and I think intuitive to comprehend.

What would I have done differently: I should have taken the competency test, and tested out. I did not realize at that time, this option was available.

Is it worth the Money: $285 tuition, $19.50 technology fee, $24 student union fee, $41.75 for Certiport IC3 (3-pack) Test Vouchers, $112.50 for IC3: Digital Literacy: Computing Fundamentals Bundle (the book) --- for a grand total of  $482.50 plus time invested: Hell NO!!!

Certifications: You receive a certificate from Certiport, which in my personal opinion is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Transfer to UNLV: (Don’t know. I’ll find out later.)
